The correct installation of defibrillators - Cardioprotected Spaces
A question that often arises when companies and entities acquire a defibrillator is where and how it should be placed so that its location is as correct as possible.
There are no precise rules about their placement but if there are a series of guidelines based on our knowledge and experience, which lead us to determine that the place where it should be placed would be a place with high visibility, insurance and where access is quick from any area of the building, that is, a central location.
It is usually installed in receptions and halls because it is a place that usually meets these requirements, however it is important that access to the device is fast from any point of it, must reach it in less than or equal to 2 minutes to ensure that you can act in the first minutes 4.
The recommendation that some legislations have already incorporated, is to place the signs along the route, in the same way that we would do with the extinguishers or BIE's, in such a way that we know where to go if necessary, always taking into account that when an emergency occurs, the state of nervousness and confusion is usually higher than any simulation or day to day. For this reason, we also recommend placing a poster of the CPR algorithm next to the DESA, detailing the steps that the lifeguard should take as a reminder of the course.
The defibrillator will always be placed inside with the battery charged and with the patches preferably connected, so that if it needs to be used, just press the power button and follow the instructions.
As always, our sales people and instructors will be happy to guide you on what would be the best place for your location as well as to answer any questions that may arise.
