Today May 20, 2021, the employees of the Bimbo company in Puente Genil have completed Basic Life Support training and use of the DEA defibrillator.
The BLS training consists of two parts, on the one hand the theoretical part, where we teach knowledge of Basic Life Support: such as CPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, airway clearance, bleeding control and lateral safety position.
CPR maneuvers or cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Furthermore, we carry out the practice of CPR maneuvers or instrumentalized cardiopulmonary resuscitation, adding the use of the defibrillator and means of assisted ventilation. In this way, they are accredited and perfectly trained for the use of an external defibrillator such as the one available in their facilities.
We also want to emphasize the issue of choking and airway obstruction. There are two types of obstruction, partial and complete. A partial obstruction allows you to speak, cough and breathe, in this case the victim must be reassured, it is important that they remain calm and can cough with all the force they can exert.
Heimlich maneuver when choking with complete obstruction
Instead, If the moment comes that he cannot cough and becomes exhausted when doing so, it is a complete obstruction, where the victim will not be able to speak, cough, or breathe. Complete airway obstruction leads to loss of consciousness, and later to cardiorespiratory arrest.
So that this does not happen, we must apply a total of five interscapular blows to the victim along with five abdominal compressions or the famous Heimlich maneuver.
