Thanks to the framework agreement signed between the Government of Aragon and the Lifeguard Project, the Villastar City Council has the first latest generation defibrillator.
More than 500 defibrillators to protect schools and official bodies throughout Aragon
The forecast is that more than 500 defibrillators will be installed in public educational centers and official bodies throughout Aragon. The official entities and municipalities that are within the framework agreement are the ones who must request cardioprotection equipment and training for the use of the defibrillator, through the Government of Aragon website.
Matías Soria, Marketing Director of the “Lifeguard Project”, leading company in Spain in the installation of defibrillators in cardioprotected spaces, explains that “Sudden death is the main cause of mortality in our country, more than 30.000 people per year die outside hospitals for this cause, acting with a defibrillator in the first 5 minutes is vital, increasing the survival of the victim up to 70% The importance of having a defibrillator is such that if there were a defibrillator next to each fire extinguisher we could save more than 4.500 lives in Spain every year. ”
With defibrillators and training, Aragonese multiply the chances of survival in the event of sudden cardiac arrest
The Government of Aragon is clear that having access to a defibrillator and knowing how to use it multiplies the chances of survival before a stop.
"Defibrillation in the 3-5 first minutes of collapse can produce quite high survival rates, between 50% and 70%."
“Every second is vital for the brain because oxygen is not reaching it. Every minute that passes, we have a 10% less chance of success ”.
Several studies have shown that DESA defibrillators installed as part of a large program of public access to defibrillation, resulted in a very high survival rate for patients in cardiac arrest. That is why the Government of Aragon is committed to cardioprotection in all its public entities.
Aragon cardioprotected community | Certification of safe cardio spaces
The cardioprotected space certificate aims to distinguish and recognize those entities that have trained professionals and installed defibrillators in their facilities, complying with the following guidelines:
Dispose of approved defibrillators with CE marking.
Have comprehensive maintenance of defibrillators.
Have trained personnel for its use. Course approved in SVB and DEA according to the regulations of each Autonomous Community.
Comply with the regulations in force in the corresponding Autonomous Community.
They must be identified with the official ILCOR signage
