VELÉZ- MÁLAGA the first municipality in Spain with defibrillators in all its educational centers
The municipality of Vélez-Málaga has counted on the Lifeguard Project to install high-end semi-automatic external defibrillators in its public educational centers, as well as anti-choking devices, in order to take care of the health of the smallest of the municipality.
Both external semiautomatic defibrillators (DESA) and anti-choking devices have been supplied by Lifeguard Project and they have been installed in the public schools of the municipality as well as in the municipal centers, which, added to other series of leading initiatives in the field of prevention of occupational hazards, has enabled the municipality to obtain recognition from the Ministry of employment and social Security.
Along with the installation of defibrillators and devices, training was given in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and DESA management, something that on the other hand has been doing for several years in the municipality, because although the management of a non-medical defibrillator is aimed at anyone can help a victim, it seems essential to approach and normalize the use of these techniques among those susceptible to use it to increase not only their knowledge of CPR and first aid but also their confidence and ability to react , so that before the possibility of use they do not feel intimidated.
Thus Vélez-Málaga, municipality of the province of Malaga and capital of the region of Axarquía, with more than 75.000 inhabitants, it becomes a benchmark in terms of prevention and an example in terms of cardioprotection.
At Lifeguard Project, a reference company in the field of cardioprotection with more than 5000 satisfied customers, celebrate the cardioprotection of the municipality, since sudden death continues to be the leading cause of death in our country, registering more than 30000 annual cases, a figure that is increasing according to the WHO data.
